The warm atmosphere. The breakfast offered just what I needed to kick start the day, and dinners were genuinely good culinary events. Each meal brought friendly conversations with Elena, Maurizio, and Javier. I stayed in the Double Room with Mountain View, and it exceeded my expectations-clean, comfortable, and even had a private deck perfect for enjoying the fine views. We rented two rooms for our family, and the thoughtful arrangement kept the kids right next door, which eased my anxiety . A small inconvenience arose during checkout when we were caught off guard by a last-minute payment for tourist tax. A cleaning service would have been nice, especially since I had to sort through my dirty laundry. The rooms were nice, but the two small beds pushed together instead of one large bed felt uncomfortable for a couple. I recommend this place for its friendly vibe and food, but I encourage exploring dining options in the nearby town for a more varied experience.

Don't forget to have at least one dinner at this hotel the owner is a master chef and very well known in Zermatt for his culinary expertise.
Television has no English channels and the satellite was down most of the time. Bring your laptop as there is fast free Wifi is throughout the hotel (Skype was very clear). Bring DVD's / plug converter – 3 prong not 2. Being a hot house plant I needed more heat for the night time / I spoke to the owner and as per usual he fixed my request within a couple of minutes and put in a portable heater in my single bedded room. Randa is just 15 mins away from the city of Zermatt – this is not a problem as you can catch a train every 10 - 15 mins. This place is a real find and is a home away from home. Ian

amazing view from window, close to train station, accessible hiking trails
Enforcing quiet hours too strictly!!! No food after 21:00 feels a bit extreme!!! Rooms could use some modernization!!! Charging for minor messes is a bit harsh!!!

100% service. Arrived on day hotel had just reopened after low-season break. Only a few rooms booked but nothing was a problem for the owners. Rooms are great and massive value for money for the region. Yes Randa is somewhat remote but owner willing to run you to the Tasch train station and pick you up. Great for advice and so welcoming. And the Resturant, wow. Again we were almost the only guests but the food & choice was amazing. Breakfast is continental but good choice and all fresh, for those giving negative comments, this is a typical breakfast for Switzerland. Wireless and Internets works ok, not super fast but just look out the window as to where you are located. In the mountains....... All in all 10 out of 10.
Nothing I can think of, except the quantity of food and drink consumed but then that was my fault......

The hotel was quite old and in a poor condition. The door lock was not functioning that you need to push hard to close and lock. The shower was quite weak as well. It had been difficult to locate someone to help after you have checked in. However, in general, the room was clean except for the cigarette-smoked towels. Though the hotel offers a breakfast buffet, the food was seldom refilled. The owner once closed the food bar to stop us from getting more food. On our last day with the hotel, the breakfast buffet became a set meal in which you were given only a boiled cold egg, a box of yogurt, some fruits and cold breads with cheese and butter. Though it was said that the hotel would provide free shuttle between Tasch train station and the hotel on request, when we asked for the ride, the owner of the hotel just said “we are not taxi” and he could not take us to the station if we could not accommodate the departure time of the other group of guests. So, if you went by one or two, you would receive very poor treatment from the hotel. There is no hospitality at all.
